We all know what Bukayo Saka is capable of doing on the pitch. But off it, he's just as inspiring.
Last November, before the World Cup, Saka partnered with Big Shoe to fund life-changing surgeries for 120 kids from Nigeria. Saka's parents are Nigerian.
Saka also donated funds to set up emergency shelters in Turkey after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake devasted Turkey and Syria last February.
Saka helps build up container village in Morocco
Santa Saka is again delivering on his charitable arms this December by continuing his partnership with Big Shoe. The Big Shoe charity supports philanthropic causes focusing on helping underprivileged children or communities.
Saka teamed up with them to deliver 50 container apartment-like homes to those impacted by the September earthquakes in Morocco's Taroudant and Al Haouz areas.
That earthquake killed over 3,000 people in what was Morocco's strongest one in a century. Residents received everyday comforts as part of the container homes, including a kitchen, bathroom area with toilet and shower, plus power.
“I was shocked when I heard about the terrible earthquake in Morocco. But, in the second moment, I knew that I really want to help. We started to look at what we can do to help the displaced families,” said Saka.
“We found a way to help relatively quickly. We were able to put a roof over their head and give some comfort and hope to those who have lost everything through no fault of their own.
“The 84 families and, above all, the 89 children in the containers can regain a piece of their everyday lives. In situations where people are fighting for survival, losing their homes or their loved ones, you become even more aware of the privileged situation you live in.”
The 22-year-old Gunner is simply a hero. In doing so, he's earned himself heaps of new fans. After all, he's nicknamed “God's Child” for good reason.
