A fierce striker, Luis Roberto Alves ‘Zaguinho’ scored 192 and two spells with Club América. In over 400 appearances that spanned 12 years, he won 2 Liga MX, 3 CONCACAF Champions’ Cups, and 2 Campeon de Campeones crowns.

Alfredo Tena

The tenacious defender known as “Captain Fury,” Alfredo Tena played for 17 years — 3 as captain — which saw him earn 594 domestic appearances. During his tenure, he won 6 domestic titles, 2 Copa , 3 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup titles, and 2 of the now discontinued Copa Interamericana cups.

Cuauhtémoc Blanco

The Mexican striker Cuauhtémoc Blanco spent a dozen seasons with Club América where he won a handful of trophies including the CONCACAF Champions League, a Liga MX championship. The top scorer in the 98/99 seasons with 16 goals, he netted 135 goals throughout his domestic league career. He’s perhaps remembered for the so-called Blanco Trick or Cuauhtemiña, where he stops the ball amongst and uses two feet to hurl it between them to progress forward.

Enrique Borja

As a player for UNAM Pumas, the Mexican striker Enrique Borja famously denied wanting to play for Club America. Yet in 1969 he transferred to Club America and the rest is history. He finished as the league’s top scorer for three consecutive seasons, ending the tally with 103 strikes and a collection of silverware.

Carlos Reinoso

An instrumental part of Club America’s midfield, Carlos Reinoso earned 364 caps over a 9-year career where he belted in 95 goals. His trophy case includes a pair of league titles, a Mexican Cup, and a Campeon de Campeones trophy.

Carlos Hermosillo

Spending a total of 7 years with Club America, the Mexican striker made 178 domestic appearances and scored more than 80 goals. He won the Mexican League 5 times, a double Campeón de Campeones, and a CONCACAF Champions’ Cup.

Paul Aguilar

Mexican right back Paul Aguilar has been a staple for Club America, representing the side 234 times over the last seven years in the domestic league. So far, he has helped the team win the Mexican League 3 times along with 3 CONCACAF Champions Leagues.

Guillermo Ochoa

The quick reflexes of goalie Guillermo Ochoa made him an immediate star in his Liga MX debut with Club America. In his seven seasons with the club, he won a league championship and became a CONCACAF Champions Cup winner before transferring to French side Athletic Club Ajaccio.

Pável Pardo

The seven-year Club America veteran made 244 Liga MX appearances with the club, helping the team win the Mexican League twice along with a 2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup. He’s also the second-most capped player for the El Tri.

Hugo Sánchez

Known as one of the greatest Mexican footballers of all-time, Hugh Sanchez had a short but prolific year with the Club America side where he scored 11 goals in 29 appearances. He helped the team win the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup in 1992.
