left Manchester City's 6-1 victory over Bournemouth with a twisted ankle last Saturday. The knock leaves him in doubt for tonight's Champions League clash against Young Boys.

City head coach remains optimistic about the prospect of the Norwegian's quick recovery and his inclusion in Tuesday night's group stage clash against the Swiss side.

The 22-year-old attacker practiced on Monday.

“I will listen to the doctors,' said Guardiola ahead of tonight's match.

“Yesterday he told me he feels much better than on the day of the game but I don't know.

“If he says he's ready and doesn't have pain, I'll consider him to play. Right now if Erling can't play, Julian (Alvarez) will play there. Julian is quite good! I like him arriving as a striker and he can play both positions.”

Haaland has 13 strikes this season, 2 in 3 Champions League appearances.

The Citizens can qualify for the knockout stage with a victory at Etihad Stadium. There are still two games to spare.
