got his say on Instagram last night about Messi's 8th Ballon d'Or award. The Portuguese forward left laughing emojis in a reply on Instagram that criticized Messi for receiving the Golden Ball yet again.

The post came from Spanish journalist Tomas Roncero, in an AS television video who said: “Hello friends, what we knew has happened, they were going to give another Ballon d'Or to Messi.”

“He went to retire at Miami, but he was already looking like retired at PSG to prepare for the , he won the World Cup, yes, well, but with 6 penalties. The World Cup was 10 months ago, we're in November,” he continued.

“Messi has eight Ballon d'Ors well, he should've have five, he has the Ballon d'Ors of Iniesta/Xavi, Lewandowski who won 6 trophies in one season and Haaland who was the top scorer of everything.”

The ongoing debate over football's highest honor

A select group of journalists from around the world, national team coaches, and national team captains conduct the voting for the Ballon d'Or each year. Love or hate their decision; they voted for the 36-year-old Argentine because he led Argentina to World Cup glory.

Messi beat out Erling Haaland despite the Norwegian sensation's treble-winning season at Manchester City, where he also scored 52 goals in 53 games.

“Hatred? I don't see things like that, the rivalry is over. It was good, the spectators liked it,” Ronaldo said not too long ago.

Messi had his say on the Ronaldo rivalry last night, telling a journalist. “What we have done all this time is very appreciable because, as they say, it is easy to reach the top but difficult to stay.”

To each their own. Let the rivalry go on 😂
